Clinical Competency Framework
Introduction
In keeping with our mission to cultivate compassionate and skilled care through building inter-professional communities of practice, the Atlantic Mentorship Network-Pain & Addiction (AMN-P&A) has developed a competency framework to support healthcare professionals in growing their knowledge, skills, and judgment so that they can deliver high-quality pain and addiction care, grounded in the best available evidence.
The competencies are categorized into six domains:
The core competency framework was developed with three objectives:
- Professional development of health care professionals tasked to manage chronic pain and addiction
- Planning regional group meetings
- Multi-year planning of the work of the AMN-P&A
DOMAIN:

FOUNDATIONAL COMPETENCY:
fundamental knowledge, skills, personal attributes, and abilities that contribute to successful performance.
ADVANCED COMPETENCY:
increased level of knowledge, skills, personal attributes, and abilities that contribute to successful performance.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
specific knowledge, skills, and ability that will be achieved at the end of the learning.
